1933-yil 30-may, seshanba kuni Indianapolis avtopoygasining 21-xalqaro 500 millik poygasi bo‘lib o‘tdi. Louis Meyer Wilbur Shawni 401,89 soniya (6,69 daqiqa) bilan mag‘lub etdi. Poyganing oʻrtacha tezligi soatiga 104,162 milya (167,632 km/soat) boʻlgan boʻlsa, Bill Cummings soatiga 118,521 milya (190,741 km/soat) tezlik bilan qutb pozitsiyasiga erishdi. Poyga 1933-yilgi America Championship Car mavsumining bir qismi edi.
Meyerga yordamchi mexanik Lawson Harris hamrohlik qildi.

Poyga boshlanishida Bill Cummings 113 milya tezlikka chiqib, barcha poygachilardan oldinga chiqdi. Ammo biroz vaqtdan keyin mexanik muammosi tufayli poygadan chiqib ketdi. Louis Meyer 7-boshlangʻich pozitsiyadan 325 milya masofadan boshlab birinchi oʻringa chiqdi. 400 milya masofada u yetakchilikka qildi.
