1968-yilgi SCCA Gran-pri chempionati Amerika sport avtomobillari klubi tomidan tashkil etilgan ochiq gʻildirakli avtomobil poygalari seriyasining ikkinchi mavsumi boʻlib, keyinchalik SCCA Continental Championship deb nomlanadi[1]. Chempionat SCCA Formula A, Formula B va Formula C avtomobillari uchun ochiq bo‘lib, Formula A bahslarida 5 litrli ishlab chiqarishga asoslangan dvigatellar bilan jihozlangan avtomobillarni qamrab oldi, keyinchalik Formula A toifasi Formula 5000 deb o‘zgartirildi[2]. Lou Sell chempionat gʻolibligini qoʻla kiritgan boʻlsa, jamoadoshi George Wintersteen ikkinchi oʻrinni egalladi. Oradagi farq 11 ballni tashkil etdi. George Wintersteenda 39 ball boʻlsa, Lou Sellda 50 ball boʻlgan. Kuchli uchlikni Buyuk Britaniyalik avtopoygachi Bob Brown egallagan. Jerry Hansen ilk mavsumidayoq Lola T140 avtomobilini haydab chempionatda 4-oʻrinni egallagan.
1968-yilgi SCCA Gran-pri chempionati 26-may kuni Continental Divide Raceway avtodromida boshlanib 12-oktyabrga qadar davom etdi. Chempionatning yopilish bahslari Laguna Seca Raceway avtodromida bolib oʻtdi. Lou Sell beshta poygada gʻalabaga erishdi. Shuningdek, George Wintersteen ikkita poygada, Jerry Hansen esa bitta poygada gʻalaba qozongan. SCCA Gran-prisining ushbu mavsumida Chevrolet va Ford jamoalari ishtirok etdi. Asosiy foydalanilgan poyga mashinalari Eagle Mk 5 — Chevrolet V8 boʻldi. Eng uzoq davom etgan poyga Lime Rock Park avtodromida boʻlib oʻtdi.
