Taʼrif
English: Looking west-northwest at Cobleigh Hall on the campus of Montana State University in Bozeman, Montana.

Cobleigh Hall was built in 1970. The 92,741 square-foot, 6-story building was constructed in the Modern architectural style as an addition to Roberts Hall. It was one of a series of mid-century structures that marked the end of the "revivalist" tradition in campus buildings. When the Engineering and Physical Sciences (EPS) Building was built in 1999, Cobleigh Hall became a connector between Roberts and EPS. Cobleigh Hall is named for William Cobleigh, a professor of chemical engineering who was later Dean of the College of Engineering. He was also Acting President from 1942 to 1943.

Cobleigh Hall has had several major renovations in the past decade. In 2004, it was re-roofed ($272,000), the exterior masonry was stabilized and cleaned ($25,000), and labs were renovated and a clean room added ($130,000). Between 2007 and 2008, a SubZero Laboratory was added at a cost of $2 million -- which came from grants from the National Science Foundation, grants from the Murdock Charitable Trust, and engineering student fees and cost-savings from Montana State University. The lab consists of eight walk-in cold rooms and three low-temperature biological chambers. Each of the walk-in rooms is designed for a specific focus, is fully programmable, provides simulated solar and sky radiation, contains a large structural engineering test-bed, a liquid water unit (to mimic water's influential environmental role), specimen storage, space for group work, and a Class 1000 clean room and Class 100 work area. The lab is outfitted with a low-temperature epifluorescence microscope and a temperature controlled computed tomography (CT) scanner. When built, it was considered the best SubZero Lab in the nation.

In 2012, Cobleigh Hall received a $70,000 new roof (again) and a $85,000 new elevator. A $650,000 renovation of the hall is under way as of 2013.

Cobleigh Hall houses the Chemical & Bioengineering, Electrical & Computer Engineering, and Civil Engineering departments. In addition to the SubZero Labo, it also houses a Concrete Lab and a second-floor computer lab.
