Die drei silbernen Kastanienblätter im Dreipaß stehen für den typischen Baumbestand des Ortes und symbolisieren in Kombination mit dem Schild die 3 Höfe/Ortskerne, aus denen Küllstedt entstanden ist und deren Verbundenheit innerhalb der Gemeinde. Die Farbgebung gold/schwarz/silber entspricht den Farben des Wappens derer von Küllstedt und nimmt auf das Adelsgeschlecht Bezug, was sich nach der Ortschaft nannte.
