Italiano: Pietro Fabris (attivo a Napoli dal 1756 al 1792) - «Cava di tufo ch’è nel podere di D. Benedetto Farina nel territorio di Casalnuovo, il quale tufo è lava che il Vesuvio nei tempi antichissimi versò liquida». Tempera su carta (gouache), mm 20 x 27. Collezione Alisio, Napoli. La spiccata affinità stilistica del dipinto con analoghe composizioni del Fabris realizzate per illustrare lo studio di sir William Hamilton "Campi Phlegraei" ha fatto supporre a Nicola Spinosa che la gouache in oggetto potesse essere originariamente destinata all’illustrazione del volume.
