EXPLICACIÓN DEL ESCUDO La Morera, debe su nombre a un ilustre apellido de hidalgos, propios de la villa. Los datos más antiguos que se recogen del apellido "morera" son del año 1300. Es de origen toponímico y frecuente, que lleva en España familias de distinto origen. Es en Catalunya y Comunidad Valenciana donde más frecuente se le relaciona. El símbolo del apellido "Morera", se cita así: "campo de plata una morera de sinople arrancada y frutada de sable". En el caso del municipio de La Morera, (en el que aparece la planta en oro y frutada en morado), puede hacer alusión a que el ilustre abolengo se emparentaría con otro apellido, probablemente grande de España y adquiriera un estatus mayor. La planta de la morera está asociada en la edad media con pudientes familias de origen mudéjar y residentes en nuestras tierras. Por otro lado, en e escudo partido con fondo amarillo, cinco hojas de higuera verdes colocadas en aspa, representan al escudo de armas del linaje de los Figueroa, familia establecida con origen gallego y residente por estas tierras, y siendo emblema heráldico del Señorío de la Villa de Feria, Badajoz.

“Escudo de gules. Un árbol morera de oro, frutado de púrpura. Jefe de oro, cinco hojas de higuera de sinople, colocadas dos, una y dos. Al timbre, corona real cerrada”.
