Deutsch: Das Wappen zeigt den Schutzheiligen Liborius; es entstammt einem Siegel aus dem Jahre 1389.
English: The arms were granted in 1948; they are based on the oldest known seal from 1389. It shows the image of St. Liborius of Le Mans, patron saint of the city. The saint was described in older documents as St. Peter, the patron saint of the state and diocese of Bremen.
