Let us return to 1837, after which there aresix years of decline to 1843, and two years ofadvance to 1845, making a cycle in highprices of eight years. Again the price de-clines five years to 1850, and advances fouryears to 1854, making a cycle of nine years.Again the price declines seven years to 1861,and advances three years to 1864, making a<;ycle of ten years. Again declines six yearsto 1870, and advances two years to 1872, mak-ing a cycle of eight years. Again declinesthree years to 1875, requiring two years moreof decline, and four years of advance to makea cycle of nine j^ears, the next cycle in itsorder, which cycle in high prices ends in theyear 1881, this year will be the next highestpriced year for pig-iron.
