Deutsch: „In Gold (Gelb), ein roter Balken, darüber ein großes rotes „W“, darunter ein großes „O“.“ Mit Urkunde des Innenministers des Landes Nordrhein-Westfalen vom 6.11.1967 wurde der Stadt Olfen die Führung eines Wappens, eines Banners und eines Siegels genehmigt. Das Wappen wurde in seiner Urfassung gold-rot-gold vom Hochstift Münster übernommen. Die Buchstaben W und O stehen für Wigbold Olfen. Sie sind seit 1593 nachgewiesen.
English: „Or, a fess gules; in the chief the letter "W" and in the base the letter "O".“ The arms were granted in 1967. Olfen was granted town rights in 1586 by the Bishops of Münster, who ruled the area. The arms show thus the arms of Münster with the letters W and O for Wigbold Olfen (the towns in this part of Germany were called Wigbold). The first seal showed St. Vitus as the patron saint instead of the letters, but the second seal, known since 1601 already shows the arms.
