Object history	Deutsch: Das Wappen wurde am 23. Mai 1950 durch das Innenministerium des Landes Niedersachsen verliehen, nachdem es bereits 1947 in der Hauptsatzung festgelegt worden war. Am 16. Dezember 1961 wurde es überarbeitet und durch das Regierungspräsidium Lüneburg neu verliehen. Wolf und Burg stehen redend für den Ortsnamen und erinnern gleichzeitig an das Schloss Wolfsburg, dass seit 1135 nachgewiesen ist. Die Wellen im Schildfuß symbolisieren die Aller. Der rote Schild weißt auf die frühere Landgemeinde Rothehof-Rothenfelde hin. English: The arms were first granted on May 23, 1950, but they have been used since 1947. The were last revised on December 16, 1960. The arms are canting, showing a wolf on a castle (Burg) and remember on Wolsburg castle as well, known since 1135. The waves in the base stand for the Aller river and the gules shield remembers on the former village of Rothehof-Rothenfelde, one of the oldest parts of the city.
