English: Parliament Buildings, Stormont - interior In the main hallway of the building hangs a chandelier which was a gift from King George the V which as a gift from Kaiser Wilhelm II had hung in Windsor castle until the beginning of WW1 (perhaps considered inappropriate for royal residences after the war). After Windsor Castle was destroyed by fire, an inventory was drawn up and it was discovered that this priceless item was missing and HRH Queen Elizabeth expressed an interest in getting it back. The Stormont ministers were reluctant to return it and an agreement was made that it should remain in-situ provided that it was well taken care of. There are several other smaller chandeliers hanging from the ceiling made by Harland and Wolfe which match it in style. Another notable item is the ceiling paintwork which has never been re-done in the lifetime of the building. The painter added an extra ingredient into the mix to ensure it lasted and went with the secret of it to his grave.
