Object history
Deutsch: Wertach ist seit 1423 als Markt bezeugt. Es sind allerdings keine Gerichts- oder Gemeindesiegel bekannt. Der Wellenbalken stellt den Fluss Wertach und damit auch den Ortsnamen dar, der sich aus dem Lateinischen ableitet und grün bedeutet. Die drei Mühlräder weisen auf die Mühlen entlang der Wertach hin, die Obere und Untere Mühle sowie die Reutemühle. Die von der Gemeinde seinerzeit gewünschte Blumenbekrönung des Schildes wurde vom Reichsheroldenamt abgelehnt.
