Object history
Deutsch: Die Gemeinde Tettau besteht seit 1978 aus den ehemals selbstständigen Gemeinden Kleintettau, Langenau und Tettau. Im Gemeindewappen sind Elemente aus den Wappen der drei Orte vereint. Die im Dreipass gestellten roten Schlüssel sind aus dem Wappen der Herren von Heimburg entnommen und waren im Wappen von Langenau enthalten. Jakob Heimburg erwarb 1480 zusammen mit Philipp von Seldeneck die Herrschaft Lauenstein, zu der seit 1427 Langenau gehörte. Er stiftete 1496 den Gemeindewald, der bis heute eine wirtschaftliche Bedeutung für die Gemeinde hat. Der von Silber und Schwarz gevierte Schildfuß ist dem Wappen von Kleintettau entnommen und weist auf die Markgrafen von Brandenburg-Bayreuth. Kleintettau entstand 1661 als planmäßig angelegter Ort. Die Markgrafen genehmigten einem Einwohner von Tettau und einem Glasmacher aus Thüringen in einem noch zu rodenden Gebiet eine Glashütte und Wohnhäuser zu errichten. In diesem neu entstandenen Ort lebten fast nur Glasmeister und deren Gesellen. Sie nutzten den Waldreichtum und die großen Erz- und Mineralienvorkommen. Die Henkelvase weist auf die für das Gemeindegebiet wichtige Porzellanindustrie und Glasherstellung. Die Farben Rot und Silber sind aus dem Wappen der Herren von Thünau und erinnern an die einstigen Burgherren von Lauenstein von 1506 bis 1622. Sie hatten in Tettau ein Schloss errichtet.
