Object history
Deutsch: Das Wappen wurde 1955 vom niedersächsischen Minister des Innern genehmigt. Es geht auf ein Siegel des Gründers der Gemeinde Hermann Billung zurück. Die dreiteilige Kirchenfahne ist als Symbol der heiligen Dreifaltigkeit anzusehen. Die Weltkugel mit dem Kirchenkreuz soll die Bedeutung des Ortes als Zentrum einer weltweiten Mission veranschaulichen.
English: The arms were granted by the Lower Saxon Minister of the Interior in 1955. The gonfalon is derived from coins issued by the Billung family. The village was, according to legend, founded by Hermann Billung, Duke of Sachsen and named after him. The small cross and orb stand for the mission society which was founded in the 19th century.
