Object history
Deutsch: Ein neu zu schaffendes Wappen muss die wichtigen ortsprägenden Elemente der Gemeinde zum Zeitpunkt der Wappenführung zum Ausdruck bringen. Dies ist im Falle Hamm eindeutig die überragenden Bedeutung der Person Friedrich Wilhelm Raiffeisens, auch in Verbindung mit der Vermarktungsstrategie „Raiffeisenland“. So sind die gekreuzten Pferdeköpfe Symbol für Raiffeisens Lebenswerk, das im Genossenschaftswesen weltweite Bedeutung erlangt hat. Diesem Tatbestand trägt das Große Giebelkreuz im oberen, rechteckigen Feld des Wappens Rechnung.Zentral weist der Saynsche Löwenkopf auf die historische Zugehörigkeit zur Grafschaft Sayn-Hachenburg hin. Die auch im Namenssatz „a.d.Sieg“ betonte geographische Lage wird durch die mäandernde silberne Welle einbezogen, die das obere, nahezu quadratische Feld von dem halbkreisförmigen unteren abgrenzt. In ihm weisen die gekreuzten Schlägel und Eisen auf die Bergbautradition hin. Die beiden X-förmigen, statischen Elemente „Giebelkreuz“ und „Bergbausymbol“ sind symmetrisch auf der senkrechten Mittelachse angeordnet, während der „Saynsche Löwenkopf“ und die „mäandernde Welle“ ein dynamisches Element in das Wappen einbringen.
