Object history

Der Veldenzer Löwe weist auf die frühere Zugehörigkeit der Gemeinde zur Grafschaft Veldenz hin. Gleichzeitig soll mit dem blauen Löwen die Zugehörigkeit der Gemeinde Berschweiler zur Amtsverwaltung Burglichtenberg symbolisiert werden, welche in ihrem Wappen im ganzen Feld den blauen Veldenzer Löwen führt.

Die unter Naturschutz stehende Dorflinde im unteren Teil gilt als Wahrzeichen des Dorfes. Diese Linde wurde nach Beendigung des dreißigjährigen Krieges in der Dorfmitte als Friedenslinde gepflanzt, hat also ein Alter von mehr als 300 Jahren.
