Dala ishlari (tadqiqot) - bu asosiy (xom, inglizcha: raw) ma'lumotlar. Bu atama asosan tabiiy va ijtimoiy fanlarda, jumladan biologiya, ekologiya, atrof-muhitni muhofaza qilish, kartografiya, geodeziya, geologiya, geografiya, geofizika, paleontologiya, arxeologiya, antropologiya, etnomuzikologiya, tilshunoslik, sotsiologiya va boshqalarda qo'llaniladi.

Ilmiy metodologiyada bu atama dala tadqiqoti sifatida tanilgan.

Sog'liqni saqlashda dala ishi atamasi epidemiologiyada epidemiya holati (patogen muhit, tarqalish vektorlari, ijtimoiy va jinsiy aloqalar va boshqalar to'g'risidagi ma'lumotlarni to'plash uchun qo'llaniladi).

Dala sharoitida (ochiq havoda yoki laboratoriya binosidan tashqarida o'rganish ob'ektlariga yo'naltirilgan) dala ishlarini kvazi-boshqariladigan (nazorat qilinadigan) muhitda olib boriladigan laboratoriya yoki eksperimental tadqiqotlar bilan taqqoslash mumkin. Ikkinchisi ko'pincha kameral ish yoki tadqiqot deb ataladi.
