Deutsch: „In Gold (Gelb) ein aus einem gezinnten, mit drei goldenen (gelben) Kugeln belegten roten Schildfuß wachsender blauer Baum.“ Mit Urkunde des Regierungspräsidenten in Münster vom 16.06.1978 wurde der Gemeinde Ascheberg die Führung eines Wappens, eines Banners und eines Siegels genehmigt. Der Rat beschloss einstimmig am 31. Mai 1977, das 1962 genehmigte historische Wappen von Ascheberg geändert weiterzuführen, indem die Farbe des Baumes (Esche) – heraldisch unbedenklich – von Grün in Blau umgewandelt wurde, um so die Farben der früheren Gemeinde Herbern (Blau/Gelb) zu berücksichtigen. Der Baum und die Mauer nehmen als „redendes Symbol“ auf den Ortsnamen Ascheberg Bezug, der urkundlich erstmals im 9. Jahrhundert erwähnt wurde („Ascasberg“) und von Sprachforschern abgeleitet wird von althochdeutsch askin = Eschen. Die drei Kugeln sind auf das Geschlecht der Herren von Davensberg zurückzuführen, da nur diese das unverwechselbare Symbol der drei Kugeln auf rotem Grund führten.
English: „Or, above a terrace embattled gules with three roundels Or, a growing ash tree azure.“ The arms were granted in 1962 and again on June 16, 1978, with the change of the green tree in a blue tree. The tree is a canting ash (Esche) tree. The new blue colour is derived from the old colours of Herbern, gold and blue. The division line indicates the former fortifications in the area. The three balls are derived from the arms of the Lords of Davensberg, who played a major role in the local history.
